Who's included?<\/h2>

What criteria have we applied to include cyclocross teams and riders?<\/p>

Criteria<\/h3>

Our list of cyclocross teams and riders attempts to include all those that you\u2019re likely to see on TV during the upcoming season.<\/p>

Compiling a comprehensive list of cyclocross teams and riders is not a simplistic task. Not all of the riders who will appear on TV ride for UCI cyclocross teams (e.g. Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado). Confusingly, not all riders registered with UCI cyclocross teams ever ride cyclocross.<\/p>

Not all regular cyclocross riders are signed to a UCI-registered team, or indeed any team.<\/p>

Of the twenty-three UCI-registered cyclocross teams, only a third are likely to appear regularly in the televised cyclocrosses.<\/p>

At the time of writing, we\u2019ve included any rider who was in the top twenty on the UCI Classification at the end of the 2025-26 season. If they ride for a registered UCI Cyclo-cross team, we include their teammates too.<\/p>

We\u2019re also adding other riders who we expect to appear regularly in the televised crosses.<\/p>

UCI-registered cyclocross teams<\/h3>

This season, none of the UCI-registered cyclocross teams have applied for UCI Professional Cyclo-cross status. Last season, Pauwels Sauzen - Altez Industriebouw was registered as a Professional-level team, and in prior seasons, three teams were Professional-level.<\/p>

This season there are twenty-three UCI Cyclo-cross teams, which is three fewer than last year. Belgium now has six teams compared to last year\u2019s eight.<\/p>

\"BaloiseThe team of cyclocross legend Sven Nys includes a mix of mature top talent in the form of Lucinda Brand and exciting prospects in Sven\u2019s son Thibau.<\/p>

Under his tutelage, Lucinda Brand has developed from a strong but technically weak rider into a UCI Cyclo-cross World Champion in 2021 and consistently one of the top female riders.<\/p>

Thibau Nys, at the tender age of twenty-two, has already captured the European and Belgian titles, plus a bronze medal at the World Championships. The only thing that could prevent him from becoming a dominant force in cyclocross is a switch of focus to the road. Cyclocross fans will be heartened to hear that he loves cyclocross too much to forsake the cross for the road.<\/p>

Wth the first, second and fifth best-placed men in the UCI cyclocross rankings at the end of the 2025-26 season, including the multiple World Champion Mathieu van der Poel, we can expect their riders to be near or at the top of the results page on most occasions this year.<\/p>

Van der Poel is, once again, likely to ride only a limited season, but he\u2019s made up for by Niels Vandeputte, who appeared in 40 races last year, including virtually every event during the Kerstperiode<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>

Aniek van Alphen is one of the few women in elite cyclocross who regularly bunny-hops the planks. Her sports career started in the Dutch game of Korfball. A dedicated cyclocrosser, the twenty-six-year-old last won a top race in 2022, but this season she looks close to her best. On a technical course, she could well come out on top.<\/p>

British cyclocross champion Cameron Mason has yet to win a top cyclocross race. He achieved a slightly surprising second place at the 2023 European Championships in the muddy and slippery conditions in which he excels. At twenty-five, he still has time to develop the horsepower of his rivals. Mason is currently sporting an unfashionable moustache that has to go.<\/p>

The youth on the squad is provided by Guus van den Eijden. The Under-23 rider has yet to make his mark at the elite level, and time will tell whether he can compete at the top level.<\/p>

H\u00e9l\u00e8ne Clauzel and Lauren Molengraaf join from Team EKO\u00cf that was set up last year by the Roodhoofts as a temporary solution for some unsponsored riders.<\/p>

\"CrelanThe fourth of the Roodhooft brothers\u2019 teams in our list is Crelan-Corendon. It's a well-balanced male and female team consisting of reigning female Belgian Champion Marion Norbert Riberolle and former male Champion Laurens Sweeck.<\/p>

They're backed by hot prospects, former Italian Champion Sara Casasola, male and female winners at the opening Berencross, Joran Wyseure and Inge van der Heijden, as well as Under-23 World Champion runner-up Emile Verstrynge and Toon Vandebosch.<\/p>

Kristina Zemanov\u00e1, the U23 silver medallist at the 2024 World Championships, who achieved five victories in UCI cyclocross races last season, has joined from VIF Cycling Team.<\/p>

It was, however, her performances at the World Cups and World Championships that stood out. Highlights were second, only five seconds down on Lucinda Brand at the Azencross, second behind Puck Pieterse at Hoogerheide and eleventh in her first elite World Championship.<\/p>

Soren Bruy\u00e8re Joumard joins as a first-year U23, having won nine UCI races last year, including the World Cup Hoogerheide.<\/p>

German team Heizomat - Cube\u2019s top riders are Joris Nieuwenhuis and Swiss Champion Kevin Kuhn. The team\u2019s Sports Director is former Tour de France stage winner Nico Verhoeven, and father of ex-crosser Suzanne Verhoeven.<\/p>

Nieuwenhuis, formerly of Ridley Racing Team, was the 2017 U23 World Champion and silver medallist at the 2024 elite World Championships.<\/p>

Almost all of Kuhn\u2019s victories have taken place in Switzerland, and he hasn\u2019t quite lived up to the promise he showed as an Under-23 rider. Interestingly, his second place in the Under-23 World Championships was achieved in D\u00fcbendorf, again in Switzerland. He often seems to perform better in World Cup rounds.<\/p>

Mae Cabaca joined the team partway through last season after parting ways with Deschacht-Hens-FSP in acrimonious circumstances.<\/p>

Former Crelan - Corendon rider Manon Bakker has yet to find a new team after she was let go by the Roodhooft brothers\u2019 set-up at the end of the 2025-26 season.<\/p>

The twenty-seven-year-old Dutch rider has scored eight elite victories, including the 2023 World Cup at Val di Sole. More recently, she's suffered from a pelvic artery issue, but still managed third place at the 2026 Brussels Universities Cross.<\/p>

For the 2026-27 season, she will represent the charity Alpe d'HuZes, which raises money for scientific research into cancer and improving the quality of life for people with cancer.<\/p>

The road team compete on Chinese-brand Quick Pro bikes who don't currently produce a dedicated cyclocross frame. Felipe will, therefore, continue to ride on Ridley bikes.<\/p>

He\u2019s also taken three bronze medals in the World Championships in an era dominated by Mathieu van der Poel.<\/p>

Van Empel will start the season languishing in 180th place in the UCI cyclocross rankings, which will ensure she will start further down the grid.<\/p>

C\u00e9lia Gery is one of the most exciting female cyclocross prospects. Already a junior World Champion and Under-23 European Champion at cyclocross, she's also the reigning Under-23 World Champion on the road, where she rides for FDJ United -Suez.<\/p>

\"DeThe team was originally established by Julie Brouwers\u2019s dad to support her cyclocross ambitions. Both left the team in 2023 on somewhat acrimonious terms.<\/p>

The team has been slimmed down and is now UCI-registered. Originally, its aim was stated to be to build a strong, all-female and Belgian team. With only two Belgian riders, that ambition appears to have diminished.<\/p>

The two newest team members, Italian Rebecca Gariboldi and first-year U23 Zita Peeters, represent exciting prospects. Twenty-nine-year-old Gariboldi had several top-ten places in televised crosses last year, and this will be her first season focussing on Belgian races.<\/p>

Zita Peeters has moved up from the De Ceuster - Acrog team with a string of victories in the junior ranks and third at the Belgian Championships.<\/p>

Denise Bestsema is a sand specialist and mother from the Dutch island of Texel. She failed a dope test in 2019 and was banned for six months after it was accepted that it was inadvertent. She finished third in the 2021 World Championships, but hasn't won a top race since 2023.<\/p>

Jinse Peeters is best known for her altercation with Mannon Bakker at Maldegem. Nothing to date suggests the twenty-six-year-old will ever be anything but a solid top fifteen rider.<\/p>

Zita and Jinse Peeters are not related.<\/p>

Lotte Baele has left the team, whilst Laura Verdonschodt has retired.<\/p>

Former World Champion Roland Liboton has joined the team to act as a \u201cgodfather\u201d and offer his support.<\/p>

Thomas was the Under-23 UCI World Cup winner in 2021, when, due to COVID, only the round at Tabor was contested, which he won from Ben Turner<\/p>

His best result in a round of the elite World Cup was last season at Besan\u00e7on when he finished sixth, seven seconds ahead of Michael Vanthourenhout.<\/p>

Twenty-four-year-old Yorben Lauryssen was signed from Pauwels Sauzen - Cibel Clementines at the beginning of 2026.
